Our Impact
Acted for Peace has touched the lives of thousands across Somalia through its holistic approach to peacebuilding, mental health, education, and livelihoods. Our recent efforts have reached and empowered communities in significant ways:
- 2,500 individuals. have benefited from our Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) initiatives, including counseling, awareness campaigns, and support through facilities like Al-Ihsan Psychiatric Hospital in Mogadishu.
- Over 2,000 library users-mainly youth and students—have accessed educational materials and safe learning spaces through our Community Library and Study Halls Program, including facilities in places like Balad-Hawa ,
- 1,500 peace leaders, have been trained under our Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution programs ; equipping them with the knowledge and leadership skills to promote harmony, reconciliation, and community dialogue.
- 1,500 individuals have been supported through our Livelihood and Economic Empowerment programs, helping families start small businesses, gain vocational skills, and improve their income security.
- Rehabilitating and constructing water points, wells, and latrines in underserved and crisis-affected areas.
– Conducting hygiene promotion campaigns to reduce disease outbreaks and improve community health practices.
– Providing emergency WASH kits during floods, droughts, and displacement crises.
– Partnering with local authorities and health actors to strengthen WASH infrastructure and awareness.
– Mainstreaming menstrual - Delivered emergency flood response during the 2023 Bardhere disaster by distributing hygiene kits and safe drinking water tools.
-Conducted community-wide hygiene awareness campaigns to prevent disease outbreaks.
– Collaborated with local authorities to rebuild damaged WASH infrastructure.
– Support for women-led organizations working in peacebuilding, education, and local development, especially in conflict-affected communities.
-Leadership & Advocacy Training for women and girls to strengthen their role in governance, decision-making, and community development.
– Prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) through awareness campaigns, school outreach, and safe reporting mechanisms. - Training women and girls in leadership, rights, and economic empowerment.
– Mainstreaming gender-sensitive approaches in education, peacebuilding, and emergency response.
– Raising awareness and preventing Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
– Supporting grassroots women-led organizations and female peacebuilders.
– Equipping local actors to integrate gender equality in development and humanitarian planning.
