Education Support, Leadership Development, and Library Access

At Acted for Peace; we believe that education is the cornerstone of peace, progress, and prosperity. Our commitment to empowering youth and strengthening education systems is deeply rooted in the belief that knowledge is a powerful tool against poverty, violence, and extremism.

Educational support and capacity building

In the Gedo region known as one of the most academically progressive areas in Somalia with some of the most established schools, Acted for Peace plays a critical supporting role by:

  • Training and equipping teachers through regular seminars and workshops to improve classroom management, teaching methods, and conflict-sensitive education.
  • Engaging students and youth through awareness campaigns on the dangers of drug abuse, school dropouts, and early marriage.
  • Conducting civic education sessions on preventing violent extremism (PVE) and promoting inclusive peace values.
  • Supporting school management structures to be more accountable, inclusive, and responsive to local needs.
Library Development & Resource Support

In regions where access to digital tools and books is extremely limited, libraries are more than just reading centers – they are safe spaces for learning, dreaming, and leading.

Acted for Peace has established and supported libraries in Baladhawa, Garbaharey, and Bardhere; where:

  • We cover monthly rent, utility bills and maintenance costs ensuring the continuity of services.
  • We provide books, learning materials, and IT facilities to enhance reading culture and bridge the digital divide.
  • We conduct training programs within libraries, empowering students with leadership skills, soft skills, and career guidance.
  • These libraries are visited daily by 80–200 students, offering a free, quiet, and resourceful space to learn and grow.
Leadership & Youth Empowerment

In every community we serve, we cultivate young leaders who will shape the Somalia of tomorrow. Through targeted leadership training and mentorship programs:

  • We teach boys and girls the values of integrity, civic responsibility, and conflict resolution, We inspire them to become agents of peace and development in their schools, families, and communities.

Our Impact & Commitment

Our work in education, leadership, and libraries reflects Acted for Peace’s deep solidarity with the people of Somalia, especially in underserved regions like Gedo. In a context where few are willing to invest in basic educational infrastructure, we stand with the youth, teachers, and communities ensuring that every child has the chance to learn, lead, and live with dignity.
